Consulting

The various different language versions of your texts should be consistent terminologically and linguistically. This is true for technical documentations (manuals, online help files, spec sheets etc.) and for marketing texts or the programme interface of the software.

In order to ensure this consistency, we suggest you use so-called translation memory systems. We will be glad to explain their advantages to you. With you, we

  • prepare the necessary processes,
  • extract the terminology and process it and
  • carry out “alignment” in order to put the source and target texts of existing translations to good use in translation memory systems.

Incidentally, did you know that terminology management is a good idea even when only one language is used? To find out why this is so, please go to Terminology Management.

In order to optimize the intelligibility of technical documentations, it can also be a good idea to use “controlled language” techniques. Techniques of this kind are known under the names of “Controlled German” and “Simplified English”. The resulting texts are highly intelligible, unambiguous and have the following advantages:

  • Your readers (i.e. the users!) can take in the content better and more rapidly.
  • Operating errors are prevented and the number of queries can be reduced dramatically.
  • The texts can be translated better and more rapidly if necessary.

We advise you:

  • on the use of CAT systems
  • on the subject of “Single Source Publishing“
  • on translation and localization processes and how to optimize them
